The heart that waits

I've developed a bit of a habit of writing songs to process things...
Here's something I've been working on =)

"There was a lot on my mind as I got on that plane,
Would it be the same as the home I left far away,
The way that we'd connected,

Or if you'd be so shy and we would have to start again,
But I have been oh so blessed, 
To see how far you've come,
For you stole my heart from the time we'd had before.

For my heart had waited so long,
For when I could return,
To my home so far away,
That stole my heart.
Now time has been and gone,
It's like I miss you all the more,
I pray our hearts might meet again,
But I will wait upon Your will.

The look in your eyes that I had greatly missed,
As you shared your God sized dreams or how you wanted to reach more,
So needs in your home could be met,
So they'd know of His love,
I still pray we meet again.

Something about you as you sat at my side,
Dressed so bright and eyes so filled with life,
With the little words I knew,
I tried to find out who you were,
You've been on my mind since I got off that plane.

For my heart had waited so long,
For when I could return,
To my home so far away,
That stole my heart.
Now time has been and gone,
It's like I miss you all the more,
I pray our hearts might meet again,
But I will wait upon Your will.

Last year your hope greatly touched my heart,
As we meet again,
My heart but skips a beat.

Since you helped us down the hill,
And He has filled you with new life.

How long will I wait to come home?
How long must I wait to go home?

Beginning to see the joy in it all.

I've recently discovered something deeply affirming... Something which I think I already knew, but had never realized how much it had impacted me.  You may have heard of the term 'third culture kid' (TCK) Basically, a TCK is a person who has spent a significant part of their developmental years (0-18) in a culture different to that of their parents culture. While these people can come from a range of backgrounds/ life experiences there is so much about them that unites them.  Until recently I thought I was just odd as no one seemed to really understand or relate to the way I processed things and related to different cultures and places, but as I learn about TCKs, I see it's all there and that I'm not the only one who feels this way. You came and filled this heart

I've just come back from leading on another kids camp and right now I should really be working on an assignment... but my mind is spinning with all that God has shown me this week- So I need to share first. It's been over two years since my last kids camp. I've been putting it off due to prac, working so much with kids in other areas of my life as well as burning out at the end of  2014 camp... This time I had the sense God wanted me back at camp. At first I thought everything would be fine but then as always life got a bit hectic and I ended up going to camp off the back of a week of moving house, very emotional goodbyes which had left me incredibly drained... And while I was happy to be back at camp... I felt far from ready... As the week went on... I saw more and more things that filled my tired heart with joy and God filled me up in a ways that He knows make me deeply happy. Sometimes it feels like drowning.

It's the end of my degree, I've got more time to complete assignments now than ever before. I only have two subjects, 1 week of classes and two assignments to go... and yet my motivation is at an all time low... I should be bouncing off walls, excited for next year and all the crazy potential that it holds... But instead, I feel that familiar fear of unpredictability rising higher, there are butterflies in my stomach and I feel stressed at the mere thought of what's next.... Oh how I want a way out of feeling like this... It's so much better than it has been but it's still hard and I'm tired of it. I wondered about medication... but seems the side effects of that are too intense. It will all calm down when I know what's happening.  I love investigating personality profiles, finding ways we can get to know ourselves better and how we can better care for ourselves and others.
