To know you like that...

Music... Recently I’ve been listening to a song called by a band called Anthem lights which goes something like this...


"Just today, 
I heard a story of a pastor far away,
Who watched his church walls fall with the rain,

Let's reach the ones that will rebuild this place...

There’s something about this song, someone who has seen something so obviously heart breaking but can see past it to the good that God can bring out of it. It talks of a new level of relationship. I’ve often looked at other Christian’s who seemed to have so much more depth in their relationship with God than I did.  I’ve been desperately searching for this depth that I’ve seen in these people and for years I’ve been running round in circles- Trust, vulnerability, openness, betrayal, disloyalty and disappointment and back to taking those first steps in trust once again. There are some incredible people who are trustworthy and loyal of course! But the reality is, we’re all humans and we all sin and make mistakes...We can’t help it!

But lately I’ve been spending more time with a different friend. One that is always loyal, trustworthy, who doesn't make mistakes and with whom I can be as open and vulnerable as I like and he’ll still love me! As I spend more time with this friend, I’m beginning to see the edge of this depth I’ve often observed and craved... and it’s BEAUTIFUL (in the deepest, richest sense of the word) and the best part there’s way deeper to go!) My friend in this case is of course Jesus- Our Lord- Our God... One who is without sin and who doesn’t make mistakes. One who is worthy of all praise, honour and glory...


So don’t give up, spend a little more time with him, he really loves you... The more we do, the more we shall realise how AWESOME our God really is! It sounds so simple but I dare you to try it!


“God, a God of mercy and grace, endlessly patient- so much love, so deeply true- loyal in love for a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin.”

I've recently discovered something deeply affirming... Something which I think I already knew, but had never realized how much it had impacted me.  You may have heard of the term 'third culture kid' (TCK) Basically, a TCK is a person who has spent a significant part of their developmental years (0-18) in a culture different to that of their parents culture. While these people can come from a range of backgrounds/ life experiences there is so much about them that unites them.  Until recently I thought I was just odd as no one seemed to really understand or relate to the way I processed things and related to different cultures and places, but as I learn about TCKs, I see it's all there and that I'm not the only one who feels this way. You came and filled this heart

I've just come back from leading on another kids camp and right now I should really be working on an assignment... but my mind is spinning with all that God has shown me this week- So I need to share first. It's been over two years since my last kids camp. I've been putting it off due to prac, working so much with kids in other areas of my life as well as burning out at the end of  2014 camp... This time I had the sense God wanted me back at camp. At first I thought everything would be fine but then as always life got a bit hectic and I ended up going to camp off the back of a week of moving house, very emotional goodbyes which had left me incredibly drained... And while I was happy to be back at camp... I felt far from ready... As the week went on... I saw more and more things that filled my tired heart with joy and God filled me up in a ways that He knows make me deeply happy. Sometimes it feels like drowning.

It's the end of my degree, I've got more time to complete assignments now than ever before. I only have two subjects, 1 week of classes and two assignments to go... and yet my motivation is at an all time low... I should be bouncing off walls, excited for next year and all the crazy potential that it holds... But instead, I feel that familiar fear of unpredictability rising higher, there are butterflies in my stomach and I feel stressed at the mere thought of what's next.... Oh how I want a way out of feeling like this... It's so much better than it has been but it's still hard and I'm tired of it. I wondered about medication... but seems the side effects of that are too intense. It will all calm down when I know what's happening.  I love investigating personality profiles, finding ways we can get to know ourselves better and how we can better care for ourselves and others.
